  2. Articles : 2018 Easter Offering

WPC’s annual Easter offering will be collected on Sundays, March 25 and April 1. Half of the offering will support One Great Hour of Sharing, an ecumenical effort that began in 1949, and continues to provide relief to those affected by natural disasters, provide food to the hungry, and assist in helping to empower the poor and oppressed.

Children are invited to collect their offering for One Great Hour of Sharing in a colorful fish bank. Fish banks are brought in during the children’s Palm & Fish Bank Parade at both worship services on Palm Sunday, March 25. If you need a fish bank, you can pick up one in the lobby of the Mission Center.

The other half of WPC’s Easter offering will go to Rebound. Rebound gives Durham Public Schools high school students on short-term suspension the opportunity to continue their studies while suspended from school. It helps students to stay on top of schoolwork during suspension; develop self-knowledge and improve self-esteem; gain effective communication and conflict management skills; and reconnect with family, school staff, and the larger community.

  3. Articles : April 2018 Collection

    Githens Middle School

One of the highlights for 8th graders at Githens Middle School is a semi-formal dance each May. A large number of 8th grade students have financial limitations, though.

Westminster’s dress, shirt, tie, and shoe drive will help ensure that lower-income students don’t have to stress about finding something to wear. Your donation of gently worn shirts and ties, dresses, shoes, and accessories will help 30-40 students get a free semi-formal outfit so they can be part of the fun and excitement of a Githens semi-formal.

All sizes 12 and up (including adult sizes) are needed. Please bring donations to the green collection bin by the end of April.

  4. Articles : 2018 Youth Mission Fundraiser

Youth Mission Soup-er Fundraiser & Dessert Auction
    Sunday, February 4, at 12-1:30pm
    Fellowship Hall

Come to the Fellowship Hall after worship on Sunday, February 4, for the Youth Mission Soup-er Fundraiser & Dessert Auction. We’ll be serving soup and grilled cheese for $5/person and $20/family, hosting a dessert auction, and accepting donations for the Youth Fund.

Our goal is to raise $4,000. These funds will support youth mission projects like our recent Christmas mission night and the August 2018 Youth Mission Stay; our summer trips; and other events throughout the year. As in 2016, the youth will visit several of our nonprofit partners in Durham during the Youth Mission Stay, working alongside one another and learning how to live lives of service.

You can give to the Youth Fund any time by:

    • Making a donation online
    • Texting “WPCDURHAM $50.00” to 73256 (adjust donation amount as needed)
    • Placing a check (memo line: Youth Fund) in the lockbox beside Taylor’s office

We hope you’ll join us for this soup-er fun event and learn how you can support our youth and our city!
