  4. News : A Conversation with Parents on Race

All are invited to “A Conversation with Parents on Race” on Sunday, July 31, at 11:30am in the Parlor. We hope for this to be the first of more conversations on race and racism, and feel that parents are in the unique position in these days of trying to answer questions raised by children and youth about racial violence and racial equity.

This will be an informal gathering, a safe space to share our experiences, fears, and hopes. The conversation will focus on how parents and grandparents can talk to kids about racism, but all voices are welcome. If you need childcare for age 5 and under, please register.

    Contact: Heather Ferguson.

  5. News : Spiritual Practice of Love & Compassion Workshop

Do you want to live life loving your neighbor as you love yourself? Do you want to stop judging? Do you want to take the log out of your own eye before you remove the splinter from someone else’s eye?

As Christians, we want to follow Christ and find it difficult at the same time. We know how we are called to live; it’s the how to do it that eludes us. There is a spiritual practice, developed by Marshall Rosenberg, designed to support you in living with yourself and others with love and compassion. It is applicable in all human interactions – parenting, marriage, work, families, you name it.

Eileen McAvoy will present an introduction to this practice on Saturday, November 7, (rescheduled from October 24) from 10am-12pm in the Youth Suite. Sign up for the workshop.
