  1. News : 2018 CROP Walk

We challenge all of Westminster to be involved in the fight against hunger by participating in the CROP Walk, an 8-kilometer walk and symbolic journey that is the typical daily trek for thousands in developing countries to gather fresh water. Last year, we raised $12,412 and our goal this year is $15,000!

Sign-ups for walkers will be available after worship soon OR you can sign up, sponsor a walker, or make your donations on the Westminster Presbyterian Church Team page. CROP Walk takes place on Sunday, March 25, at 2:30pm. The walk begins at Duke Chapel. Learn more about the Durham CROP Walk.

Please mark your calendars and join us, whether as a walker or sponsor. Together we can change the world, one step at a time. Contact: Neil McElroy.

  4. News : SNAP Challenge

snap-logoAfter being challenged by Kenzie Brannon and Chuck Byrd, the youth of Westminster challenge the congregation to take the SNAP Challenge.

SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families. A low-income family of five in North Carolina receives $771 a month for food in the form of an EBT card.

To take part in the SNAP Challenge, which comes from the Durham CROP Hunger Walk organizers, you must:

    • For five days, spend no more than $4.20 per person per day on the food you eat.
    • Donate the additional money you would have spent on food during that time to the Durham CROP Hunger Walk, where 100% of the money raised goes to hunger-fighting agencies locally and around the world.
    • Share your experience on social media with the hashtags #EndHungerNow and #ENDHungerGames. Email any photos or reflections to westminster@wpcdurham.org so we can share them with the congregation.

Get the SNAP Challenge guidelines and register for the SNAP Challenge (Organization you represent: Westminster Presbyterian Church).
