  1. News : January 2017 Collection

In January, the Neighborhood Mission Team is collecting the following for Hope Valley Elementary and Githens Middle School:

    • Hats and gloves for kids age 6-14
    • Clorox wipes
    • Kleenex tissues
    • Gently used coats (sizes 10 – adult large)

Please bring items to the yellow collection bin in the Mission Center. Thanks as always for your generosity!

Githens Middle School would love more volunteers in the media center or serving as math tutors. Contact Susie Hill if interested (919-560-3966, Susie.hill@dpsnc.net). It only takes 30 minutes to an hour a week to make an impact! You may even be able to volunteer on the way to work, as school starts at 7:30am.

  2. News : 2016 Christmas Eve Offering

At Westminster, we have a tradition of giving generously to the Christmas Eve offering. The offering will be shared between Threshold, Rebound, and the WPC Disaster Relief Fund, which supports projects like “One Day a Month to Help Our Neighbors.” It will be collected at the Christmas Pageant and both Christmas Eve services. You can give any time before Christmas in these ways:

    • Drop a check off to the church office
    • Text “WPCDURHAM $50.00” (adjust amount if needed) to 73256 (standard text messaging rates may apply)
    • Give online via myWPC

Open your heart and give generously as you come into Christ’s presence this Christmas.

  3. News : Get Involved with the Neighborhood Mission Team

The Neighborhood Mission Team is dedicated to identifying ways that church members can be involved with our neighbors, whether by donating items for the students at Hope Valley Elementary and Githens Middle school or by spending time with neighborhood kids.

To be able to volunteer in the local schools, you must complete the Durham public schools volunteer clearance form. Everyone is encouraged to complete the form. It’s quick, and the approval is good for two years.

Here are some ways you can get involved now:

  4. News : School Supply Collection

During the month of August, we will be collecting composition notebooks and reams of copy paper (white and color) for Githens Middle School and Hope Valley Elementary.

The notebooks will be used in a new initiative for science and math at Githens. They need 700 notebooks for the students that are on free/reduced lunch. Copy paper is always needed so that important information can be distributed to students throughout the school year.

Please place any donations in the yellow collection bin in the Mission Center.

It’s also time to relink your Harris Teeter VIC cards. The cards need to be relinked to the school you wish to support each year. Harris Teeter gives back 1% of each purchase.  Relink cards to 3555 for Hope Valley Elementary or 2516 for Githens Middle.

Contact Monica Nichols with questions about ways to support  our local schools (monica.nichols@ge.com).
