The Session met on Sunday, April 23, to conduct the examinations for members for the Confirmation class of 2017. Twenty confirmands were on hand for the examinations, joining seven who had already been examined. Students in the Confirmation class met with three elders who reviewed
their faith statements, and encouraged the students to see confirmation as a new beginning in their lives in the church. Twenty-seven new confirmands have been approved for membership by the Session. Confirmation Sunday will be on May 14.
The Session also conducted regular business, reviewing the monthly financial statements and voting to approve an initial engagement with Horizons Stewardship for support of our stewardship and capital campaign program. More details on this engagement will be available in the May 24 newsletter.
We also voted to approve the disposition of our two trailers – the white trailer will go to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (in support of Edgecombe County disaster relief work); the red trailer will go to Camp New Hope Camp and Conference Center. Neither trailer has been used by WPC in recent memory, and both receiving organizations are eager to put them to work.
