The members of Westminster are committed to feeding those who are hungry. Their involvement with organizations such as the Food Bank and Meals on Wheels spans many years and grows stronger each year.

The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina is the 9th largest in the United States, and provides food to numerous food pantries, churches, and other distribution centers in 34 counties. It also provides food to school children during the summer months and on weekends when they do not get food through their school programs. Money donated for the produce grown in the Westminster Community Garden goes to the Food Bank.
On the fourth Tuesday of each month, a Westminster group (youth, choir, supper clubs, Bible studies, Church School classes, etc.) buys and prepares food, takes it to Urban Ministries’ Community Café, and experiences the life-changing event of serving the shelter meal. About 280 people are fed with each meal. Check out the instructions for serving the shelter meal.
Meals on Wheels delivers a nutritious meal, a safety check, and a smile that serves as a lifeline to seniors of limited mobility. This combination goes well beyond fighting the battle against the hunger that threatens one in six of America’s seniors – it provides the support and peace of mind that enable them to remain safely and securely in their own homes as they continue to age.
CROP Hunger Walk is an annual event which combines fun and fundraising to raise money for hungry people in the local community and throughout the world. Westminster is the proud multi-year winner of the Golden Sneaker award for raising the most of participating medium-size congregations.
