Faith and Our Culture: Ethical Issues in Contemporary Culture and Jesus’ Parables

Facilitator: Jim Clack | Room 204
September 18 – November 13

The interaction between Christian faith and the behavior of those in our culture, including government leaders, religions and their proponents, business and labor management, has become a controversial interplay. In this class, we will compare a selected sample of ethical issues – such as welfare and charity, racial tension, parenthood, and freedom of speech – with selections from Jesus’ parables as written in Matthew. After examining our opinions on these issues, we will consult with the parables found in Matthew 13, 18, 20, 21, 22, and 25 to give us a Christian perspective. Participants are encouraged to add cultural/ethical issues of their own interests to the agenda.
