  3. News : Christmas Shoe Box Gifts

This year the shoebox gifts will be delivered to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) in Goldsboro. Our shoebox gifts are targeted for the children and youth in some the poorest sections of Goldsboro who experienced frequent storms and tornadoes this summer. Many lost everything, received some aid, and then lost that in the next storm. Our connection to UMCOR is throughthe Rev. Butch Huffman, who is part of our own Huffman-Schmidt family. Your shoebox gift will help brighten the holidays for these children.

You can find a list of gift ideas, as well as the label you’ll need to attach to your shoebox here. Copies of this form are also available at the information desk in the Mission Center.

The gifts will be collected on Sunday, November 20 with a shoe box parade at both the 8:30 and 11am services.

If you have any questions, contact Nancy Rozak at or 489-4974.

  4. News : Supporting IHN

IHN BasketInterfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) held its annual gala dinner to raise money for the work it does providing emergency shelter to homeless families on October 15, 2011. As part of the dinner, the congregations donate baskets for a silent auction. Westminster’s basket, "Southern Hospitality At Its Best," featured a weekend in Hilton Head, a gift certificate to Mama Dips and a variety of uniquely southern foods. Many thanks to Ruth Tasgal-Kennedy and Holly Schmidt for assembling our beautiful basket.
