  1. Mission Trip Blog : Day Two: Urban Mission Work in Pottstown, PA

At the YWCAToday my group and I went to the YWCA with Ben Mountain and Hannah Messick. We got to play with little kids until lunch and then we cleaned the kitchen for a little bit. The people there were all so nice!

Today, Will Dozier, Jack Mountain, Madison Ruffing, and I went to the Cluster Outreach Center.  We lifted boxes, organized a closet, and did yard work. All the people were so nice and apprectiative, an it was a lot of fun.

Today, my group consisting of Addie Woods, Emma Duling, Jack Dozier, Alyson Bosworth and I went to the LaundryRehabilitation and Training Center, where we worked with adults who are mentally disabled. First, we did crafts with them and then made lunch. After that, we helped them string lights for an opportunity for them to make money. It was a lot of fun and a very rewarding experience!

Today my group went to the recycling center. My group was me, Emily Stokes, Celia Cleary, Betsy Kelly and Daniel Falkovic and our adult was Bobby Bosworth. At the recycling center we did different jobs including sorting books, sorting CDs and organizing plant pots. We also got ice cream and played with the pet peacock, Mr. Peabody.
    -Jack High

Today we visited the Main Street shelter. We organized and divided toilitries, and some went and wades and folded laundry. Also we made some new friends along the way. It felt good to know you were helping out the shelter so the homeless people could have a nice place to stay.

  2. Mission Trip Blog : Friday Morning Devotional 6/29

    Friday Morning, June 29th, 2012

Location: First Presbyterian Church, Pottstown, PA

Offered by: Jack High and Betsy Kelly
Prayer Partners: Sarah High, Robin, Fletcher, and Lauren Dickerson

    Scripture: 2 Corinthians 13:11

"Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the god of love and peace will be with you."
Reflection: This scripture, over all, tells how we should live together during our trip:

    • "Put things in order" – We think that this means that we need to cooperate with each other and know our individual tasks.
    • "Agree with one another" – We think means exactly what it says, agree with one another.
    • "Live in peace" – We think this means that everyone needs to get along and have a good attitude

  3. Mission Trip Blog : Thursday Evening Devotional 6/28

    Thursday Evening, June 28th, 2012

Location: First Presbyterian Church, Pottstown, PA

    Offered by: Claire Leadbetter
    Prayer Partner: Laurie Leadbetter

    Scripture: Colossians 3:16-17

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

    Reflection:
This applies to our trip because it says we should help each other and teach each other new things, which we will all have to do throughout this week. It also says that the work that we will be doing is done in the name of God.

We’ve just arrived to a welcomed by a group of friendly youth from First Pres. They treated us to a delicious snack of Rita’s Italian Ice! They then put their skills to the test and prepared taco’s for us- very yummy! Tomorrow we start working in smaller groups and volunteering in inner-city mission centers. We’re so

  5. Mission Trip Blog : We are on our way!

Youth Mission Trip 2012 Group Photo This morning we left for our first stop: First Presbyterian Pottstown. Thanks to all the people who came to send us off!

Our scripture this morning came from Ephesians 4:1-6:

"I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all."

May we remember that all of us – us on our trip and you praying for us at home – are one in the Spirit. Thanks be to God who binds all of our hearts together in love.

In the name of Christ who sends us out to serve,
    WPC Youth Mission Team 2012
