Westminster Presbyterian Church (PC-USA) is a vibrant community of faith seeking to “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly” in Durham and beyond. It has a rich history of supporting local and global missions and nurturing people of all ages in fellowship and faith formation. Founded in southwest Durham in 1963 and situated on a 10-acre campus, Westminster is a growing congregation of more than 900 members that welcomes all to participate fully in the life of the church.
Westminster School for Young Children (WSYC) is currently seeking part-time Lead and Assistant Two-Year-Old Teachers for the 2021-2022 school year. Sponsored by Westminster Presbyterian Church, WSYC was established in 1969 and offers a half-day early childhood program where children are encouraged to progress at their own growth and maturity level while experiencing a wide range of hands-on learning experiences.
WSYC requires that teachers have a college degree with a preference in early childhood or elementary education, child development, or family and consumer sciences; previous experience teaching children ages 1-5; and are fully vaccinated.
A Lead Teacher would work closely with an Assistant Teacher and is responsible for the supervision, planning, and instruction for a group of 10 children on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings from 9:00am-12:00pm. Both Lead and Assistant teachers are contracted for eight hours per week from 8:30am-12:30pm on those days. The school year typically runs from September to May with four teacher workdays at the beginning of the school year and two teacher workdays at the end.
The hiring range is between $14-$16 per hour.
