We’re taught as children that there are proper ways to go about life. If you clean up your Legos, then they don’t get taken away. If you ask nicely, you get extra Goldfish. This extends to adulthood, conditioning our daily patterns. If we turn in a project on time, we don’t get chastised by our boss. If we put money in savings, we achieve financial security. If we do x well, then y is achieved. We become accustom to a way of doing things, a way of ordering our world. If a new way of doing things comes along, it is natural for us to stiffen our backs, brushing off the notion that there might be another way. The more set in our ways we get, the harder it is to break free, especially when something comes to us new and startling and without warning.Read more...
Join the Fellowship Committee for fellowship and delicious food at a Summer Kick-off Potluck on Sunday, June 4, right after the 10am service. We are excited that Tom Meyer with Q-Shack in Raleigh will be providing barbecue chicken, and we ask you to sign up to bring sides and desserts.
Remember when bringing food to bring enough for your family to eat. We want to make sure we have enough food for everyone! Please RSVP by Wednesday, May 31, so we know how many to count on and how much barbecue chicken to order.
We look forward to kicking off summer with all of our Westminster families!
Worship volunteers are vital to the life of this church. Whether they’re greeting and seating worshippers, lighting the candles, watching over our littlest ones, counting the offering, ensuring that the audio works, or reading the Word, they’re playing a pivotal role in worship.
A New Sign-Up Process
Worship volunteer sign-ups are taking place a little differently this year. Volunteers who’ve served in the 2016-2017 year have first dibs on signing up for 2017- 2018 teams until May 28. Then, sign-ups will be open to the whole congregation. Look for a link to online sign-ups in your inbox on May 31, and look for the sign-up table in the Courtyard before/after worship on Sundays, June 4, 11, and 18.
Online sign-ups for worship volunteers will be done through a separate volunteer website, SignUpGenius, this year. You will still use myWPC to access the final worship volunteer schedule and find subs.Read more...
Who is Building Faith Family Circles for?
Unlike your typical Vacation Church School, designed for children and led by youth and adults, this three-evening event is for all ages and led by all ages, from age 4 to senior adults.
Gathering around the shared dinner table, engaging in music and meaningful art projects, and living stories from Scripture, each evening will send us home with seeds for deeper conversation and contemplation.
Tuesday, June 13 (Matthew 3:13-17)
Faith Family Circles are Named and Claimed: We will revisit the encounter between John the Baptist and his cousin Jesus.
Wednesday, June 14 (Matthew 7:12)
Faith Family Circles are Built on Love and Respect: We will explore the heart of the Golden Rule.
Thursday, June 15 (John 6:1-14)
Faith Family Circles Join in the Amazing Works of Jesus: We will become that crowd of hungry folks gathered to be blessed and fed by and through Jesus.
