For Guests Seeking a New Church Home

Perhaps you are an on-line visitor. If so by all means enjoy the website, but we'd really like to have you join us in worship Sundays if you are in the area and that is possible.

Perhaps you are a member who is curious about what this section says. Then this is a good place to remind you how important it is to seek out and to welcome our guests.

We are an active church with a diversity of people and view points. We warmly welcome you to Westminster. May it be a place where your spiritual needs will be met.

When we were a smaller church we could readily identify visitors. Now we have over 800 members and are split between two Sunday-morning worship services and sometimes we are not so sure who is a guest and who isn't. So both we and guests have to work harder.

There are several things you can do as a guest.

Before going in, please put on a Guest name tag.  The tags are usually set out on a card table in front of the church.

A pew list will be passed down the pew  when the offering plates are being passed. Please fill it out and be sure to include your phone number and address. You will be contacted by a member of the Assimilation Committee.

After church introduce yourself to the pastor. If you have a card, please give one to him/her.

Please do not be shy. We are a friendly church, but we are not always as attentive as we should be. Get our attention. Ask someone how long they have been a member of the church and ask about some aspect of the church that you are interested in.

Look through this Web site.

Consider getting involved. You do not need to become a member to get involved in many activities of Westminster. Visit a Sunday School Class or a mid-week Bible study class. Come on a retreat. To men's breakfast.  Help out around the office. Join in on Yard Days. Follow the link on the home page that says "Do you want to get more involved?"

Get on the mailing list for the bi-weekly newsletter. Request now if you like by contacting (919)489-4974 or  E-mail WPC Secretary (secretary@wpcdurham.org).

There is an excellent way to systematically learn more about Presbyterianism and Westminster and that is through the Inquirer's Class. Four or more times a year, the Pastor and staff conduct a series of Sunday morning and evening classes for people interested in joining Westminster. Please check with the church secretary for the schedule and meeting place for the next series of Inquirer's classes.

Come join our community and participate with us in worship, nurture, outreach, stewardship, and education.

Welcome  to Westminster!
