Here’s are the questions we’ll explore in the five weeks of the next Church School elective, Technology & Your Teen: A Faithful Approach

October 19: Identity
Who are our youth and who are they online? Is this a cohesive identity? What are youth trying to project? How do we help youth stay grounded in their Christian identity? How do we help youth navigate the "perfect" identities their friends and celebrities project? How do likes, loves, and comments shape self-worth?

October 26: Privacy
How do we help our youth explore questions and ideas on the internet in a safe and secure way, honoring developmental stages and experimentation? What needs to remain private and what needs to be public? What are our roles as parents and adults in youths’ lives? How do we teach youth about privacy settings and how to control content?

November 2: Apps
Snapchat, Tinder, Kik, Instagram, Ask.fm, Twitter… learn how to use and navigate today’s most popular apps for teens.

November 9: Usage
How do we teach our youth about balance in their lives with the internet and social media? What is healthy and what is unhealthy usage? What is safe usage? How do we model usage as families and adults? What does it look like to live in covenant life with your teen and technology?

November 16: Belonging
How do we foster a sense of community through technology? What are teens seeking when they go to the internet for community? How do we teach youth about interacting with people face-to-face?
