Jack Walchenbach,
Interim Minister
Jack came to Westminster in November of 2006 as Interim Minister following the retirement of Haywood Holderness. Jack recently retired from serving a 12 year pastorate at First Presbyterian Church, Fort Walton Beach, FL, bringing to Westminster over 40 years experience in ministry. Among the most recent previous churches he has served are First Presbyterian, Orlando, First Presbyterian, DeLand, FL, and Preston Hollow Presbyterian, Dallas, TX. Jack is a graduate of Hope College (A.B.), New Brunswick Theological Seminary (M.Div), Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (Th.M), and The University of Pittsburgh (Ph.D). Jack and his wife Pat, a coronary intensive care R.N., have two grown sons, Tim and his wife Lisa, with two children, live in Seattle, WA., and Jim and his wife Macy, with two children, live in Paris, France. |

Betty Berghaus,
Associate Pastor for Congregational Care Betty was called to this position and ordained in August, 1999. She received her Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School in May, 1998, and also has a Master in Christian Education from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Va. She and her daughter, Mary, joined Westminster in 1992. Betty is trained as a Stephen Minister and a Stephen Leader, and has served as a Deacon. She sings in the adult choir. |

Dr. Monica Umstaedt Rossman,
Minister of Music An Ohio native, Monica has lived in Durham since 1982. She holds degrees from Baldwin-Wallace College, Ohio State University, and Duke University. Specializing in organ and choral music, Monica has more than 35 years of church music experience. Her professional history includes six years as Associate Chapel Organist/Assistant Director of Choral Activities at Duke, four years on the music faculty at Ohio State and three years as an attorney. Monica has been at WPC since 1994, where she serves as organist and director of the music program. She and her husband, Jeff, have two daughters, Jessica and Natalie. |

Nancy Rozak,
Director of Christian Education Born in Syracuse, New York, Nancy has lived in Durham since joining the Westminster staff in August of 2000. She holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin, and National-Louis University. She is also a Certified Educator in the Presbyterian Church, USA. Nancy has more than 30 years of experience working with children and early childhood educators. She was a preschool teacher and on the Adjunct faculty at William Rayney Harper College, in Illinois. Before coming to Westminster, Nancy was the Director of Christian Education at the Union Church of Lake Bluff, Illinois. She is married to Jerry and they have two daughters, Katie and Mindy. |

Barbara
Fletcher, Business Manager and Treasurer Barbara Fletcher joined the church staff in 1998 and has ably moved into the position of business manager for the church overseeing a wide variety of physical plant needs and the church finances. Barbara and her husband had operated their own furniture business around Durham for some thirty years and had enjoyed a long association with Westminster prior to her staff appointment. She also serves as treasurer of the Durham Presbyterian Council. Her daughter Jennifer has her own horseback riding business in Alabama and her son Tully is a candidate for ministry, having just completed his studies at Columbia Theological Seminary. |

Rebecca Mattern,
Director of Youth Ministry
Rebecca came to Durham from NE Ohio in 2000. She found Westminster and quickly became active in the youth program, serving as the chair of youth council for 3 years. With a degree in Combined Science, Rebecca spent 10 years balancing lab work as a career and youth ministry as avocation until accepting God’s opening to ministry at WPC in March 2008. She was a part time youth director at Westminster in Boardman, OH and has served as a Deacon. She lives with her Great Dane, Ronin, and is excited about God’s work in her life. |

Gail
Reynolds,
Administrative Assistant Gail and her family have been members of Westminster since 1987. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from UNC - Chapel Hill and worked for 6 years in medical research at Duke University. Gail spent 18 years raising her family and volunteering in the church and community before returning to the work force in 2004. She received Stephen Ministry training at Westminster and enjoys participating in Bible studies and Women's Retreats. Gail has two sons: Drew and Rob. Her favorite leisure activities include tennis, Mah Jongg, and scrapbooking. |

Barbara Schmidt, Receptionist Barb retired in 2002 after 26 years with Verizon and has had various full and part-time jobs since her “retirement.” She joined the WPC staff in August, 2007. Barb and her husband, Frank, both Durham natives, have two children. Their son, David, and his wife, Julie, live in Brooklyn, NY. Their daughter, Liz Hogan, and her husband, Mike, live in Durham and are the parents of Barb & Frank’s incredible grandchildren, Danielle and Sophie. Barb is an active member of Bethel Christian Center where she and Frank teach Children’s Church one Sunday each month. Barb is also a member of the Praise and Worship Team at Bethel. |

Tracy Fletcher,
Finance
Clerk
Tracy graduated from The East Carolina School of Technology with a degree
in Business Education. She has spent most of her career in accounting and
management positions. After spending a few years out of the work force as
a stay-at-home mom, Tracy returned to work at Westminster in 2003.
Tracy's husband, Randy, is an attorney with Moore & Van Allen. Their
six-year daughter, Avery, is in kindergarten at Trinity School of
Durham/Chapel Hill. They have been members of Westminster since 2000.
Tracy enjoys reading and painting; she is an avid softball player and
wakeboarder.

Kay Wellemeyer, Parish Nurse
Kay joined the staff in January of 2008,
as WPC began it's Health Ministry. She, her husband Doug, and their
three children joined Westminster in 1987. She has been ordained as
a Deacon and an Elder. Kay earned her BSN from Duke University and
brings years of nursing experience in medical and surgical
nursing. She is currently employed at Duke Hospital in the Medical
Intensive Care Unit. Kay completed Duke's Health Ministry and
Congregational Nursing Program in 2007. She is serving as a health
educator, personal health counselor, referral resource, health care
advocate, and developer of programs to meet the health care needs of
the congregation.
