These are the Church School electives (offered Sundays from 9:45-10:45am) that the Adult Christian Education Committee is working on for the fall. If you have never attended a short-term elective, we hope you will take this opportunity to join us!
Term 1 – Faithfully Navigating Today’s Technology: Using Apps and Social Media
September 17 – October 15 | Facilitators: Bob & Dawn Lamont
Every day brings new technology and new ways to stay connected. Some are positive. Some, not so much. In this class we will take a closer look at social media and some of the latest apps to see how we can more faithfully navigate today’s technology.
Term 2 – Praying Our Goodbyes: Reflection, Ritualization, and Reorientation Through Life’s Inevitable Changes
October 22 – November 19 | Facilitator: Geoff Vaughn
This class is for anyone who has experienced loss, whether a job change, the end of a relationship, the death of a loved one, a financial struggle, a mid-life crisis, or an extended illness. It is designed to help us reflect, ritualize, and re-orient ourselves – to help heal the hurts caused by goodbyes and the anxieties encountered when one season of life ends and another begins.
Term 3 – Advent Serving and Learning
December 3-17 | Facilitator: JoAnn Lytle-Olson & Guests
Advent begins the new liturgical year. It is a time for excitement and anticipation. It is also a time of great gratitude for the many blessings of life.
Gratitude naturally calls us to think of those who are less fortunate and in need. This 3-week class is designed to give folks an opportunity to reflect on blessings and learn more about how we are called to be God’s hands and feet in a hurting, lonely, and hungry world.
Each Sunday during Advent we will have an opportunity to learn about a particular need right here in our community, as we welcome special guests to share. We will then participate in “hands-on” service to address these needs.
