Giant JengaToday we worked at a place called Be Loved House. They are a group who has a house not too far from the church where we sleep, and they provide a place for anyone to stop by and feel at home. We set up a stand at the senior center where they could get fresh produce. We then split up to go do various tasks, such as making a set of chairs and doing some gardening. Finally, we went around the downtown area passing out Popsicles in a park, and planted some things around the city. The people at the house were very kind and welcoming to us.

Today we had lots of fun… We went to Vance Elementary School to help with the garden. The garden at the school was made to teach the students about healthy eating and they got to eat the produce. We weeded and mulched the garden to make it look fabulous and keep the garden running. We then headed to Azalea Park to have lunch and play a little. Afterward we went to the Veteran Restoration Quarters to play games with the veterans. The games we played were checkers, chess, giant jenga, cornhole, ladder golf, and Scrabble. We passed out popsicles while the veterans enjoyed playing games. Sadly, we had to say goodbye and headed to Asheville School for much-appreciated showers! We had a delicious dinner of spaghetti, salad, and yogurt prepared by the church from Indiana. We are now having ice cream sandwiches, which is a great way to end a great day!

Today was fantastic! After breakfast, we went to Black Mountain Home for Children. There, we pulled weeds in the garden, trimmed tree branches, and dug a trench for a water pipe. We even got to see donkeys and goats! After Black Mountain, we went to the Veterans Restoration Quarters. While we were there, we were able to eat lunch with veterans. We heard many great stories and made new friends. After that, we set up games and popsicles in the courtyard and invited them to join us. We met even more amazing men by playing games with them. It was a really great experience. After we finished at our worksites, we drove to The Asheville School to take much needed showers. Once we finished our showers, we drove back to the church, had a delicious dinner of spaghetti and fruit parfaits, and had a program with the Asheville Youth Mission interns. Overall, it was a great day!
