Thanks to everyone who has been part of Westminster disaster response efforts to date. It has been six months since Hurricane Matthew; rebuilding is replacing cleaning out down east. It is time to start thinking “Mission Trip” instead of “Day Trip”: putting together teams to do work more like what we do at Habitat. Volunteer camps with kitchens, showers, and bunk beds are being put in place. They estimate the rebuilding will continue for another two years.
What do you think Westminster should be doing as we go forward?
How do you see yourself with respect to disaster response?
There is a Global Mission meeting on May 10 to discuss and decide what WPC’s next steps in disaster response should be. Please take time to let us know your opinions. Send your confidential comments to Dorene Palermo (dorenepalermo@ gmail.com) so your thoughts can be part of the discussion. And thanks again for your support so far!
