We have a lot of exciting things going on these days.  Curious?  Read on. . .

We’ve started our season with a lot of energy, & I’m very excited about what’s in store.  Next Thursday night, Sept. 29th, we’ll take a sneak peek at some of the music featured in this year’s Advent Lessons & Carols (December 11th).  Our October 29th retreat focuses entirely on this music, but we’ll begin devoting a certain portion of Thursday night rehearsals to it as well.  As you know, choirs always get into the Christmas spirit early!

Just the other day, I was very excited to learn that Alice Parker will be in our area (St. Francis United Methodist Church, Cary NC) for a Community SING and Choral Workshop March 16 – 18, 2012.  As many of you know, I am a huge Alice Parker fan.  She is an amazingly gifted, knowledgeable teacher who truly understands community singing better than anyone I’ve ever encountered.  Here’s an opportunity for you to be inspired by this great & iconic American musician/composer/conductor.  Registration for the workshop begins October 24th, & I’d like to get us registered asap.  So take a look at your calendars & let me know whether you can attend with me.  Cost is $25 per single registrant; for groups of 10 or more, it’s only $20 per person, & I’m hoping we’ll have at least 10 going.  I’ll be happy to pay registration costs out of our choral music budget, since this will benefit our choir in countless ways.  Make it a point to attend if at all possible, & I’ll keep you posted with more details soon.

I’m delighted that so many of you will be joining us to sing for Taylor’s installation service this Sunday, Sept. 25th–thank you!  Your solid participation in special events like this is part of what makes our choir so terrific.  Come to the music room for a brief choral warm-up at 1:15 p.m.  The service starts at 2 p.m.  We’ll wear robes with red stoles for this Spirit-filled service.
