RECOMMENDATION OF CANDIDATE

FOR THE PASTOR NOMINATING COMMITTEE

THE 2007 NOMINATING COMMITTEE HAS THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR NOMINATING A SLATE OF CANDIDATES FOR THE PASTOR NOMINATING COMMITTEE (PNC) WHICH WILL SEARCH FOR OUR NEW PASTOR.   THE PNC WILL CONSIST OF 4 MEN, 4 WOMEN AND 1 YOUTH.  WE  WISH TO DRAFT A SLATE THAT REPRESENTS ALL SEGMENTS OF OUR CHURCH.  WE SOLICIT INPUT AND RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE WESTMINSTER CONGREGATION OF MEMBERS TO SERVE ON THIS COMMITTEE.   YOU MAY ANONYMOUSLY RECOMMEND YOURSELF OR ANY OTHER MEMBER OF THE CONGREGATION WHO YOU BELIEVE MEETS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications of PNC Members.  Members of the PNC must be active, engaged members of the WPC congregation who wish to do this work and who have the time and commitment to do it.  They should be cautioned in advance of their election that this important job will demand a great deal of time.  They will probably need to meet every week for one or two years, or even longer to first nominate and then provide support to our new pastor.  The job requires them to:

·         be open-minded theologically

·         listen to God’s direction and be guided by it only

·         participate in the drafting of the Church Information Form (CIF)

·         be open to all candidates of both genders and all races

·         read many dozens of Pastor Information Forms (PIFs)

·         listen to many recordings of sermons

·         travel, sometimes overnight, to observe candidates preaching

·         conduct interviews

·         be computer savvy for research and communications

·         make difficult decisions with the committee

·         sift, sort, and organize a great deal of data

·         maintain total confidentiality (even from spouses, friends and family members) to the conclusion of the process in face of pressure to make disclosures
