The Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) convened for a called meeting at 7:30 p.m. on 13 September 2006 in the Parlor of the Holderness Mission Center. The Moderator, Rev. Robert (Bob) Fields, was present and called the meeting to order and it was opened with a prayer by B.Berghaus.
Associate Pastors B.Berghaus and P.Ransford were present.
Elders K.Bunch, B.Cunningham, A.Denson, N.Gaddis, J.Jones, M.T.Peters, Sara Pottenger, S.Ruffing[1] and D.Wellemeyer were present. Elders F.Anton and J.Graham were absent and excused.
Clerk of Session D.Derr was present.
Doug Elvers, Chair, and Beth Maxwell, Bill Scott, and Holly Schmidt, members of the Interim Pastor Search Committee, were also present.
The Moderator declared a quorum present.
REPORT AND RECOMMENDATION OF INTERIM PASTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE
The Interim Pastor Search Committee reported on their search for an Interim Pastor and presented the biographical information and Terms of Call of the recommended candidate, Rev. John (Jack) Walchenbach
Recommendation: The Interim Pastor Search Committee moves that the Session call Rev. John (Jack) Walchenbach of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, to be the Interim Pastor/Head-of-Staff for Westminster Presbyterian Church pursuant to the Terms of Call presented, which have been approved by the Committee on Ministry of New Hope Presbytery. The motion was seconded by N.Gaddis[2].
Action: Approved enthusiastically.
The Moderator pronounced that the call of John (Jack) Walchenbach to be the Interim Pastor/Head-of-Staff for Westminster Presbyterian Church has been duly issued.
The Session thanked and applauded the Interim Pastor Search Committee for its outstanding work.
The sense of the Session is that the Interim Pastor Search Committee will take the lead in conjunction with other applicable committees and persons in planning and preparing activities, including the first worship services, welcoming Jack and Pat Walchenbach to WPC.
The Session's current business, having been completed, the Moderator declared the meeting adjourned and it was closed with a prayer by P.Ransford at 8:15 p.m.[3]
