The Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) convened for a called meeting at 7:30 p.m. on 5 September 2006 in room 105 of the Holderness Mission Center. The Acting Moderator, P. Ransford, was present and called the meeting to order with a prayer.
Moderator Robert Fields was absent and excused.
Associate Pastor B.Berghaus was present.
Elders F.Anton, A.Denson, D.Elvers, N.Gaddis, C.Haynes, J.Jones, S.Landis, and M.T.Peters were present. Elders B.Derr, J.Graham, B.Nicoll, and D.Wellemeyer were absent and excused.
WPC staff member N.Rozak was present.
Clerk of Session D.Derr was absent and excused and Assistant Clerk A.Denson served as Clerk.
Elders-Elect Kathryn Bunch, Bruce Cunningham, Sara Pottenger, and Shayne Ruffing and Deacons-Elect Bill Burig, Scotti Harwood, Bill Hatch, Louise Holland, Jim Joseph, Darren Skeen, and Anne Vann were present for examination.
The Acting Moderator declared a quorum present.
The Acting Moderator explained that the purpose of the meeting was to examine candidates for the Session and Diaconate. B.Berghaus reported on the curriculum studied by the candidates. The Elders (E) and candidates (C) were then divided into the following three groups:

Each group met separately and the elders examined the candidates individually.
Following the examinations, the meeting reconvened and each convenor reported on the candidates examined in his/her group.
Motion:
A motion was made, seconded and approved that the examinations of all candidates be sustained and that they be ordained and installed as new officers on Sunday, September 10, 2006.

S.Pottenger and S.Ruffing have been ordained previously and will be installed. All other candidates will be ordained and installed. K.Bunch will be ordained and installed and S. Pottenger will be installed at the early service on September 10, 2006. S. Ruffing will be
installed and B. Burig, B. Cunningham, S. Harwood, B. Hatch, L. Holland, J. Joseph, D. Skeen, and A. Vann will be ordained and installed at the 11 a.m. service on September 10, 2006.
Announcement:
F. Anton announced that the Fellowship Hall has been rented on September 13 by a member of our congregation, Bud Cowdery, for a pot luck dinner honoring a former President of Tanzania. Westminster is not a sponsoring church for this dignitary’s visit but the Global Missions committee will help with this event and members of the congregation are invited.
S. Landis gave a closing prayer and the meeting was adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
