The Congregation of Westminster Presbyterian Church ("WPC") convened for a called meeting on 11 September 2005 in the WPC Sanctuary at the beginning of the 11:00 worship service. Moderator H.Holderness called the meeting to order, declared a quorum present, appointed D.Derr to serve as clerk and opened it with prayer.

The Moderator pointed out that the meeting had been called by the Session in order that the congregation might hear a report of the 2005 Nominating Committee.

The Moderator asked Elder B.Derr, a Session member and the Chair of the 2005 Nominating Committee, to present the report. She named all of the other members of the 2005 Nominating Committee and described the circumstances that required a further nominating process at this time as follows:

●           A Deacon-Elect to a three-year term in the Class of 2008 has decided for personal reasons not to be ordained and installed as a Deacon at this time creating a vacancy in the class of 2008.

  ●           Deacon Dorene Palermo, elected on April 17, 2005 to the remaining two years of a relocating Deacon in the Class of 2007, is willing to be elected to the three-year term in the Class of 2008, creating a two-year vacancy in the Class of 2007.

Bobby Yurkutat, ordained and installed as a Deacon on September 19, 2004 to a three-year term in the Class of 2007, and his family are relocating from Durham creating a second two-year vacancy in the Class of 2007.

  ●           B.Derr consulted with Diaconate Moderator, Elena Cleary, who advised additional responsibilities being assigned to the Diaconate requires a full compliment of 21 Deacons.

  ●           Since officer training has concluded for this year, it was necessary to find already ordained persons willing to fill the two vacant two -year terms in the Class of 2007.

The report is that Deacon Dorene Palermo be elected to the three-year term in the Class of 2008, and that member Bill McAvoy, an ordained Elder and Deacon, and member Rick Overholt, an ordained Deacon, are nominated to be elected to the two vacant two-year terms in the Class of 2007.

The Moderator then asked if there were any additional nominations to be offered from the floor.  No additional nominations were made.

The Moderator then declared that the nominations at this meeting were closed and said that another meeting of the Congregation has been called for Sunday, 18 September 2005, at the beginning of the 11:00 AM worship service, for the purpose of electing Deacon Dorene Palermo to the vacant three-year term in the Class of 2008, and electing two Deacons to fill the remaining two-year terms of the two vacancies in the Class of 2007.

The Moderator said at the meeting on 18 September 2005 there will be an additional opportunity for further nominations from the floor.

The business for which the meeting had been called having been completed, the Moderator adjourned the meeting 11:10 a.m., and the regular order of worship resumed.

Respectfully submitted,
