The Congregation of Westminster Presbyterian Church ("WPC") convened for a called meeting at 11:05 A.M. on 8 July 2007 in the WPC Sanctuary during the 11:00 A.M. worship service. Moderator J. Walchenbach was present, and he called the meeting to order and opened it with prayer.
The Moderator asked the Clerk if there was a quorum, and the Clerk declared a quorum present.
The Moderator explained that the purposes of the meeting were (1) to hear any motions regarding the composition as to size or classifications of the Pastor Nominating Committee (“the PNC”), and (2) to hear a report from the 2007 Nominating Committee including the announcement of the slate of nominations for the PNC. The Moderator also explained that the election of the PNC is scheduled to take place at a separate meeting of the Congregation on Sunday 22 July 2007 at 11:00 A.M.
The Moderator explained that both the Session and the Nominating Committee have recommended that the PNC should be composed of nine (9) members including four (4) men, four (4) women and one (1) youth. The Moderator then asked if there were any motions regarding any aspect of the recommended composition of the PNC, and no motions were made. The Moderator then declared that when the PNC is elected, it will be composed of nine (9) members including four (4) men, four (4) women and one (1) youth.
The Moderator then asked Elder A. Denson, a Session member and the Chair of the 2007 Nominating Committee, to give the report of the 2007 Nominating Committee and to announce the slate of nominations for the PNC.
A. Denson introduced the members serving with him on the 2007 Nominating Committee: Bruce Cunningham, Bill Hatch, Ralph Coonrad, Anthony Dilweg, Jennifer Feiler and Susan Ketch.
A. Denson explained that the Nominating Committee is not a committee of the Session or the Diaconate, but is rather a committee of the Congregation and, as such, the Nominating Committee’s report is given directly to the Congregation.
A. Denson summarized the processes, criteria and considerations the 2007 Nominating Committee used to arrive at the slate of nominees for the PNC which will search for its new Pastor once elected.
A. Denson then presented the classifications and names of the nominees composing the slate for the PNC as follows:
1. John Atkins 1. Rebecca Mattern 1. Grayson Schmidt
2. Bill Bartholomay 2. Eileen McAvoy
3. John Graham 3. Sue McCaughan
4. Doug Wellemeyer 4. Mary Todd Peters
The Moderator announced that the nominations from the 2007 Nominating Committee do not need a second.
The Moderator then opened the floor for further nominations, with the following observations and guidelines:
a. If you are nominating a person, you must have received that person's permission to do so and also his or her indication of willingness to serve on the PNC, and the nomination must receive a second.
b. Any person nominated from the floor at this meeting will have their name printed on the ballot at the meeting to elect the PNC.
c. Any person nominated from the floor at the meeting to elect the PNC will be a “write-in” candidate.
d. At the meeting to elect the PNC, we will elect a total of nine (9) members including four (4) men, four (4) women and one (1) youth.
The Moderator then asked if there were any additional nominations to be offered from the floor, and no additional nominations were made.
The Moderator then announced he would entertain a motion that the nominations at this meeting be closed.
Motion: A motion that the nominations at this meeting be closed was made, seconded and approved.
The business for which the meeting had been called having been completed, the Moderator adjourned the meeting at 11:15 A.M. and closed it with a prayer.
Respectfully submitted,
