The Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) convened for a called meeting at 10:40 a.m. on 9 April 2006 in room 105 of the WPC Mission Center. The Moderator, H.Holderness, was present and called the meeting to order and opened it with a prayer.
Associate Pastors B.Berghaus and P.Ransford were absent and excused.
Elders F.Anton, A.Denson, B.Derr, D.Elvers, N.Gaddis, J.Jones, B.Nicoll and D.Wellemeyer were present. Elders J.Graham, C.Haynes, S.Landis and M.T.Peters were absent.
Clerk of Session D.Derr was present.
Peter and Dexter Meath of the recent Inquirer’s Class, and their son James Riley Meath who was born on November 25, 2005, were also present.
The Moderator declared a quorum present.
EXAMINATION AND RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS:
Motion: A motion receiving Peter and Dexter Meath as members of WPC by the pertinent procedures prescribed in the Book of Order was made, seconded and approved.
Peter will become a member by reaffirmation of faith and Dexter will become a member upon letter of transfer from First Presbyterian Church, Roanoke Virginia and they will be introduced by B.Nicoll.
NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS:
D.Elvers, Chair of the 2006 Nominating Committee, reported that the committee is still in the process of completing the proposed slates for new officers.
Motion: A motion postponing the called Congregational Meeting from today because the slate of proposed new officers is not complete until 23 April, 2006 and rescheduling the second called Congregational Meeting for the purpose of electing new officers to 7 May, 2006 was made, seconded and approved.
The Session’s current business, having been completed, the Moderator declared the meeting adjourned and it was closed with an adjourning prayer by B.Derr at 10:55 a.m.
