Write-up from Doug Elvers July 22, 2006 The interim search committee has been working for the past 3 ½ months . We have had a substantial list of names to review. We have narrowed the listings. Interviews have been conducted with several individuals. The process that we are to follow for an interim pastor.. a) Once the interim search committee has reached a decision on a candidate to pursue, it will begin negotiations with that candidate. b) Once it has reached a reasonable conclusion with the candidate, the interim search committee – being a committee of the Session – will then request a meeting of the Session be called to hear the report of the interim search committee. c) The Session then must vote to approve the terms of call. d) The executive presbyter of Hew Hope Presbytery is then contacted along with the Moderator of the Committee on Ministry for New Hope Presbytery. e) The Committee on Ministry is then to examine the candidate that has been put forward by Westminster. f) Once approval from the Committee on Ministry has been received then the interim pastor may “come on board” and begin duties. The contract with an interim pastor involves three parties, i.e., the candidate, Westminster, and New Hope Presbytery.
