Motion on Budget cuts for 05 budget... vote:

The motion was made and seconded that we cut $5,000 from the budget that we
had slated for Community Mission day, because we have some money budgeted
in other categories to cover the costs of at least 2 community mission
days. Further, the $5,000 we had budgeted for a contribution to the IHN
capital campaign fund was reduced to $2,800. The vote passed unanimously.

Benevolence review:

No requests to bring to the Board of Deacons at this time. A letter
regarding Share Your Christmas thanking WPC was circulated.

Mission Focus Discussion:

Christmas offering raised approximately $14,000 for DCRC. Although this is
less than other years, this organization also received part of the
Christmas offering last year and will be the recipient of other gifts
throughout the year, including benevolence collections and mission focus
days. A concern was raised about this Mission focus topic and how to
provide meaningful congregational hands-on events during Community Mission
Day that can include children. We are looking for a date to have a
congregational luncheon (i.e. Deacons Luncheon) to provide the congregation
some in-depth information on this organization.

Nativity School:

We wondered what we can do to help with the Nativity School.   We will ask
Barbara Fletcher to put a line item in the budget for this.  Sally Keener
offered to be a liaison to the Nativity School.

Announcements:

Jan 30, installation of Hispanic Ministry pastor
Feb 23, Lenten Lunch--organized by Barb VDB.
Mar 20, Crop Walk--last year raised $154, 000

Housing For New Hope:

Michael R. mentioned that HFNH asks that Elders and Deacons go on the HFNH
tour. At some point, we may be asked for the use of our facilities to host
a graduation ceremony.

Bobby Y mentioned that his company is moving offices and will have office
supplies available for giving to needy organizations in the area. Let him
know if your benevolence has need of supplies such as file cabinets,
printers, folders, furniture, etc.

Shelter meals are pretty well filled: Bill S. is looking for a group to do
the Feb meal.

Feb is towel month for the collection boxes.

Don't forget to let Barb VDB know if you can help with the Lenten Lunch.
