Q: When is the right time for children to participate in Communion at Westminster?

A: Since each child’s development is different, the age of readiness will vary from child to child. The determination of this readiness is primarily the responsibility of the parents, but it is also the responsibility of the whole church to assist parents in fulfilling this responsibility of preparing their children for meaningful participation in communion. Therefore, WPC welcomes children to communion when their parent(s) feel the child is ready, and after taking the annual sacraments class.

Westminster will offer a two-part series on the sacraments of baptism and communion for children who are currently in 2nd grade or older and at least one parent. If you can only attend one class, we still want you to come! Lunch will be included in our time together and childcare is available for younger siblings upon request.

  • Sunday, January 8 Cancelled due to inclement weather
  • Sunday, January 22 12:15-1:45pm, Parlor & Sanctuary (Lunch included) – Remembering Your Baptism: You Are God’s Beloved
  • Sunday, February 5 12:15-1:45pm, Room 105 & Sanctuary (Lunch included) – Welcoming Children to the Lord’s Table: Communion

The fliers handed out on Sunday, January 15, had the wrong date for the second Sacraments class; it will be held on February 5, not February 12.

Please register yourself and your child for the class and childcare, if needed, by Saturday, January 21. Contact: Heather Ferguson.
