All is Calm, All is Bright: Mystery in Opposites through the Season of Advent
Sundays, November 30 – Dec. 21, 9:45-10:45am*
Facilitator: Heather Ferguson
The season of Advent is a special time in the church’s year, but it can also be a challenging one, as we are pulled in many different directions. The world around us gets caught up in the Christmas rush, as our faith tradition calls us to quiet ourselves, wait, listen and prepare for the coming of the Christ-child, the Messiah.
In these four weeks, we will consider the great and subtle opposites that lie just below the surface of this season. Calm and chaotic, filling and space-making, celebration and suffering, darkness and light. Together we will consider the mystery of these opposites through sacred scripture, holy sights and sounds, and prayerful reflection.
*An additional offering of this class has been scheduled for those unable to attend on Sunday mornings. It will meet on Wednesdays, Dec.3, 10, and 17, from 12-1pm in Room 105. You are welcome to bring a bag lunch and a friend. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP.
